Welcome To My Cosmos World

Good morning to all. Its a beautiful 67 degrees in July !!!! What is up with that??? We will take it.
Sooo.... I took a hand full of Cosmos seeds and threw them in this flower bed by the garden. This is what happened. Cosmos are my favorite flower because they are beautiful and easy to grow. They are an inexpensive annual to toss in amongst your hardy perrinials.

My true love of flowers came from my Mother. My mother could toss a rock on the ground  and grow a flower from it. Growing up I recall our yard was the most colorful in the neighborhood. My mother would sit at the kitchen table with flower books that had came in the mail and plan her colorful nature escape in the yard.
She would show me what she was going to plant next and explain to me what each and every flower was. I as a kid thought at first, this is something else to mow around, then when the flowers bloomed it was like the fourth of July in our yard. We always had the prettiest yard in the neighborhood. Hundreds of different flowers popping their pretty little heads up at different times of the year. My mother new when to separate and move different flowers and make new floral worlds all over our yard, each bringing different birds and butterflies to watch.

Soo... I came by the love of flowers naturally. My mother taught me a thing or two about growing just about any flower. I continue to plant and experiment and take any free starts off other gardners. The yellow sunflowers in the pictures are starts off my mothers and are perennials.

Sooo... Don't be afraid of flower gardening. Build your Cosmo's world, or whatever flower world you dream. Enjoy them and have fun planning and planting. Remember!!!! Plant hardy perrinials with a splash of annuals and no worrying over them. You will have a beautiful garden in no time.

Getting To Know Me

Hi and welcome to my world....

These are garden 2017 beginning pictures. I wanted to start out by introducing myself with the photos to give you an idea what I am about. I am an avid gardener ( perfect by no means), but enjoy it a great deal. Mother nature will make even the best of the best cringe and scream.  I plant everything that I can, everything that I think I can sell at the local Farmer's Market, and what I think I would like to have on the table.

I was born in Missouri, around the Lake of the Ozarks area. Both my grandmothers had huge wonderful gardens and had a love of flowers also. We moved to Illinois when I was twelve and I have lived here since, except when I moved back to Missouri when I was 24 for a short spell to cover from a broken heart. I was young and thought I had found the love of a lifetime. The usual heartbreak that most go through. I have lived in Illinois every since. I now have the true love of a lifetime. We have only been together seven years, but it seems an eternity that we have known each other. He is a car guy and knows a little about gardens. He pulled too many weeds when he was younger so he tends to stay in his area of expertise and I in mine.

I found my passion of gardening watching my grandmother and helping her in her garden. I spent a great deal of time with my grandmother before moving to Illinois and learned a lot. I continue to read and study anything and everything I can on the subject. My other passions of nature and fishin started when I was two. My Daddy had me on the fishin bank when I was two. Daddy passed away when I was five, but I never lost that urge to hit the fishin bank whenever I could. I continue yet today to hit the fishin banks here in Tremont as much as I can between gardening and baking for the Farmer's Market.

I am new to the Blogging world and hope to grow and share with everyone. I love taking videos and pictures of things going on in the back yard and garden. Believe me when I say in the hour and a half that I try to sit by the garden in the morning and drink my coffee a lot happens. It is truly amazing.

When you read these stories on this Blog, keep in mind they are true. These are actually things that happened or are things that may teach you. Teaching you something new, making you laugh or making you smile just a little will be my goal each and every day.

I hope you enjoy!!!
